Who are you? Hi I’m Suzi, Mother to my 2-1/2 year old Son Alexander. I currently run my own business Mrs Plumber Mumma. I Have been Plumbing for 8 years now and still enjoy it.

How old are you? I’m 30 years of age

Where are you at in your plumbing journey? Currently a Licensed Plumber and running my own business.

What got you interested in plumbing? I always wanted in get into a trade. At the start I wanted to be a mechanic because I love cars and motorbikes but I thought going to the same work place every day wasn’t for me. I had a friend that was doing plumbing and they were looking for an apprentice. I asked them to give me a trial and the boss was a little hesitant at the first, but 8 years later I’m still Plumbing and now running my own business!

What were you doing before plumbing? Before I started my apprenticeship, I was working full time as a security officer, for a big security company, doing various jobs.

What type of work are you doing/have you done? When I started plumbing I did various type of plumbing: new homes; maintenance; ducted heating; and evaporative cooling. Now running my own busines its just maintenance and renovations

Where do you want to go with plumbing? Still doing some further studies as wanted to do more specialised Plumbing.

What do you like most about being a plumber? Doing different jobs every day, meeting new people

Do you have any advice for women/girls out there thinking about getting into plumbing? If plumbing is something you want to do then go for it, don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t. Don’t get me wrong, like anything it takes a bit of getting used to - for the 1st year of plumbing I was in bed early nad there were days I wouldn’t have dinner because I was to tired, but eight years later I’m still here and enjoying it.
